The Lucerne Advertising Agency Rocket goes to sea: from July 4 to 15, our Rocket Boat travels over Lake Lucerne, between Lucerne and Flüelen.
Summer, sun, and waves will inspire and motivate us at our work. On the middle deck, there will be creation, illustration, and programming. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, we will receive our customers on the airy upper deck or the quarterdeck lounge.

Why do you transfer your place of work to a boat?
Who wouldn’t want to spend the summer on a boat? Sun, water, and a fresh breeze are great working conditions. Lucerne, with Lake Lucerne and the mountain panorama, provides a dreamlike background.
We got the ideas several years ago, when we were thinking about the possibility of a new location for the agency. Then, we thought about purchasing a boat instead of a traditional office, and to work on the boat permanently, or during the summer months.
For the agency’s 10th anniversary, in Autumn 2015, we then decided to make our dream come true, in form of a popup office on sea.
How about Sun and Fun?
Basically, we are indeed on the boat to work. However, we’ll certainly find the time to enjoy the landscape, or get new ideas during a refreshing swim in the sea. We will certainly not return from our field trip with pale faces. In addition, together with our friends we will indulge in a fun day, with swimming, barbeques, and wakeboarding.
Who drives the boat?
To look ahead, navigate, and steer, is essential in advertising and marketing. Whether using the Red or Blue Ocean Strategy, sometimes we take our customers through stormy waters. On the sea, on the other hand, we prefer to leave the steering wheel to a professional. Therefore, we temporarily complement our crew with a professional external captain. Besides, after all we are on the boat to get work done.
How is this done technically – with respect to data?
Our boat is equipped, not only with radar and echo sounder, but also with a powerful MiFi (a WiFi, which establishes a connection via the 4G mobile network). Sometimes we are within reach of other WLAN connections. Thus, we have a permanent connection to our data server.

How can our customers contact us?
As usual, we can be reached via phone, email, Skype, Google Hangouts, etc. Mail will be delivered to us at the landing spot. We are well-equipped, on the boat, for presentations and meetings. Some of our customers can easily be reached by sea. Others get picked up, for example in the Lucerne port.
Will the “agency on the sea” remain a unique experience?
The original idea was to set up the agency permanently on a boat. The summer experience will show us how great the idea really is. Thus, we don’t rule out the possibility to really change our company headquarters to a boat, or to operate a pop-up office in some other place, again, in the future.
